Special education in Warsaw
What is special education?
Special education in Warsaw, which we organize, is a form of support designed for school-age children (elementary school), tailored to their individual developmental and educational needs. We conduct classes in Polish or English.
We primarily target children with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, those on the autism spectrum (including level 3 - requiring a lot of support) and those with multiple disabilities.
We work based on the ABA approach, using proven methods of teaching and therapy. Each program is individually tailored - taking into account the child's current level of functioning, his or her abilities and real needs in everyday life.
Depending on the child, goals can range from school skills (reading, writing, basic math) to developing independence, communication or cooperation with others. The focus is on what actually enhances the child's independence and daily functioning.

Who is special education for?
Special education is particularly suitable for children who:
have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (including level 3 - requiring a lot of support)
have intellectual disabilities (moderate or severe)
have multiple disabilities (such as intellectual and motor disabilities)
have difficulties in communication (speaking, understanding)
Have difficulties in cooperation and functioning in the school environment
need support in independence and daily functioning

What does special education look like?
What do we do during the class?
During classes, we work on the basis of a behavioral approach (ABA), adapted to the child - we combine learning with practical application of skills in everyday situations.
During the class:
- break down skills into small, manageable steps
- teach through repetition and gradual increase in difficulty
- reinforce desired behavior (e.g., through praise, access to activities)
- we develop communication - verbal or alternative (AAC)
- we work on independence (e.g., activities of daily living)
- We teach cooperation and functioning in relationship with others
Classes can range from learning school skills (reading, writing, basic math) to developing practical skills - depending on the child's needs.

What do we develop in therapy?
- communication and understanding of commands
- social skills, play and cooperation
- Independence (e.g., dressing, eating, organizing the day)
- School skills (reading, writing, basic math)
- regulation of emotions and behavior
- concentration and task performance

Special education in English
We provide special education and therapy in English for children with special educational needs, including autism (level 3), intellectual disabilities and complex developmental difficulties.
We work with international families and understand the challenges of organizing support in another country. We combine education and therapy in one cohesive program tailored to the child's level of functioning.
A focus on English is especially important for families who plan to stay in Poland for only a limited time - this allows the child to continue his education and therapy without having to implement a new language that he will not use later.

When is a special school and when is an integrated school?
The choice of the appropriate form of education depends primarily on the child's level of functioning and his needs in everyday life. An integrated school can be a good option for children who are able to function in a larger group, with additional support from a support teacher.
Special school is more often chosen for children with more developmental difficulties who need more individualized attention, smaller groups and an adapted curriculum.
In practice, the line between these solutions is not always clear. Therefore, it is worth making a decision based on the real needs of the child, not just the formal capabilities of the system.
We work in a model similar to that of a special school - focusing on skills that are adapted to the child's level and useful in everyday functioning.
