ADHD diagnosis in children in Warsaw

What is the diagnosis of ADHD based on?

ADHD diagnosis is a process that assesses a child's functioning in the areas of attention, impulsivity and activity level. It is not based on a single meeting or a single test - a broader view of the child's daily functioning is important.

At Pineapple Therapy, we conduct diagnosis in a manner tailored to the child. We take care of a calm atmosphere, gradual contact building and observation in as natural situations as possible.

The process includes consultation with parents, observation of the child and, as needed, the use of appropriate diagnostic tools. We take into account the child's functioning at home and in kindergarten or school.

On this basis, we prepare an opinion with recommendations for further support - both at home and in an educational institution.

When is an ADHD diagnosis worth considering?

The child has difficulty focusing attention
(e.g., easily distracted, does not finish tasks)

excessive impulsiveness appears
(acts without thinking, has difficulty waiting)

the child is very mobile
(it is difficult for him to sit still, he is "in constant motion")

Has difficulties functioning in a group (e.g., in kindergarten or school)

there are problems with organization
(forgets, loses things, has difficulty with planning)

difficulties persist despite support and the passage of time

What are the diagnostic meetings like?

Diagnostic meetings are calm and tailored to the child. We are keen that the child should be able to function as naturally as possible, but at the same time that the assessment should be reliable and based on specific tools.

During the meetings, we combine observation of the child, conversation with the parents and tasks to assess attention, impulsiveness and activity levels. Some of these are more casual in nature, and some are more structured.

We also use diagnostic tools such as MOXO or Conners 3 questionnaires as needed, which allow us to better assess concentration, work pace, impulsivity and severity of difficulties in daily functioning, among other things.

However, we do not rely solely on the test score alone. It also matters how the child performs during the meeting, how he or she functions on a daily basis, and what difficulties the parents and the school or kindergarten observe.

This allows us to prepare a diagnosis that does not boil down to a single result, but gives a more complete picture of the child's functioning and practical guidance for further support.

ADHD diagnosis in English

We provide diagnosis of ADHD in children also in English.

We work with international families and children raised in a bilingual environment. During the diagnosis, we take into account the linguistic and cultural context, which is especially important when assessing the child's attention, behavior and functioning.

If necessary, we also use diagnostic tools (e.g., Conners 3, MOXO) to help better assess concentration, impulsiveness and work pace.

At the end, we prepare an opinion in English with practical recommendations for further support (home, school, therapy).

The documentation can be used at school, with specialists or other institutions.

What's next after an ADHD diagnosis?

Diagnosis is the first step - it helps to understand the child's difficulties and plan further support.

Based on the results, we can suggest specific actions tailored to the child's needs - such as work on concentration, behavior regulation or support in school functioning.

If necessary, we also assist in the preparation of documentation for the psychological-educational counseling center (PPP) and further formalities.
